#Woman saves wine instead of baby in viral video—she’s receiving mostly praise online

She’s also being shamed by a few.

A woman’s actions involving a baby and a glass of wine in a viral video are dividing the internet. In a short video that went viral on social media, a woman was holding up a baby against a table where there were two glasses of Champagne. But when the baby reached for the woman’s glass and knocked it over, she abandoned the baby to save her glass of wine.

The baby fell on the floor, wine spilled, but the woman still had some of her Champagne untouched.

“When you finally become an adult and have your priorities straight,” @CulturedRiffian captioned the video.

The comedic timing is perfect. The woman immediately grabbed for the wine glass, forgetting she was supporting the child. Viewers couldn’t get enough. The video already has 8 million views and has been liked 112,000 times.

Many viewers joked that they didn’t see any problem with the video.

“For the record, it does take a lot longer to make Champagne than a kid,” one user tweeted.

“The baby will survive. The Dom Perignon 2004 on the other hand? Nah,” another wrote.

All joking aside, many viewers pointed out the glass would have seriously hurt the baby if the woman let it fall and break. So though it may not look like it, she did prevent the child from getting injured.

“Babies are designed to take falls,” one user said.

“Kids bounce. Broken glass sucks to get out of carpet,” one user wrote.

However, other viewers criticized the woman for not picking up the baby and letting the glass fall.

“Karen shouldn’t have had her booze so close to the baby,” one user said.

Despite speculation, it doesn’t look like the baby was seriously hurt in the video. It seems to be as harmless and funny as any other parenting trend circulating on social media.
