#WIP’s Spike Eskin to replace Mark Chernoff at WFAN

Spike Eskin will replace Mark Chernoff as the vice president of programming for WFAN and CBS Sports Radio, The Post has learned.

In becoming the head of WFAN, Eskin joins a station with its most important time slots securely anchored by the top-rated “Boomer & Gio” in mornings and “Carton & Roberts” in afternoons.

Eskin will still have a huge impact in terms of what New York sports fans hear. He will decide the fate of “Moose & Maggie,” which has rated well, but is a spot where FAN still could change its daily lineup. He will choose the replacement for John Jastremski, who recently left FAN evenings for a Ringer podcast. And Eskin is expected to reshape the station’s weekend programming.

One day, in theory, Eskin could be in charge of picking the replacements for 82-year-old John Sterling and 74-year-old Suzyn Waldman on Yankees radio games, though the duo may broadcast forever.

Eskin, 44, comes to WFAN from WIP in Philadelphia. He is the son of famed Philadelphia afternoon host Howard Eskin. Spike is the co-host of “The Rights to Ricky Sanchez,” which is a 76ers podcast.

Chernoff, a legendary figure in New York radio, will stay on until June 30.

With senior vice president Chris Oliviero’s return to the station nearly a year ago as the head of Audacy in New York, Chernoff has helped bridge the next era for WFAN.

Mike Francesa and Joe Benigno both retired, while Craig Carton, after three years away including one in federal prison, returned to lead the afternoon show.
