Who Even Needs Skills?! TV Anime Adaptation Premieres in October 2025

The official website for the upcoming Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! TV anime series announced last week that the show will begin broadcasting in Japan, starting October 2025. An exact premiere date and time were not revealed as of the time of writing.
Kaoru Yabana (The Strongest Magician in the Demon Lord’s Army was a Human Episodes 2, 7, 8, and 11) is directing the anime series, with Chabo Higurashi (AMAZING STRANGER series screenwriter and co-scriptwriter) as series screenwriter and scriptwriter. Studio A-CAT is handling the animation production.
Meanwhile, the anime’s voice cast will star Kensho Ono as Allele, Saori Hayami as Laina, and Sumire Uesaka as Lilia.
The anime is based on the fantasy light novel series, written by Shichio Kuzu and illustrated by Yumehito Ueda. It began as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro on November 15, 2017 and concluded on May 15, 2020. Earth Star Entertainment later published the work as a light novel series on July 16, 2018 under its Earth Star Novel label until June 15, 2019. Four volumes were released in total. The light novel’s Japanese title is Mushoku no Eiyuu: Betsu ni Skill Nanka Iranakattan da ga.

A manga adaptation by Akio Nanae was launched in Comic Earth Star magazine on November 10, 2018. Nine tankobon volumes have been released as of March 2025.
One Peace Books licensed the manga adaptation of Hero Without a Class for release in English, describing the main synopsis as:
In a world where everyone receives a Class and Skills at the age of ten, and where such revelations have a huge impact on one’s life, Arel, the son of Sword Princess Farah and Archmage Leon, learns that he has… no class at all!
With no class, and no skills, all that’s left for Arel is hard work. And so, he takes to training, utilizing wits and cunning to emerge as an all-new type of hero!
