#When They Cry SOTSU, I’m Standing on A Million Lives For Summer 2021

Hong Kong-based distributor Ani-One has revealed that Higurashi: When They Cry SOTSU and the second season of I’m Standing on A Million Lives will be coming to their YouTube channel for Southeast Asia and other countries for the Summer 2021 season. 

Higurashi: When They Cry SOTSU is scheduled to premiere on July 1 at 11:30PM (GMT+8). The first two episodes will air consecutively on the same day, and subsequent episodes will be uploaded weekly. A second PV for the anime was released on June 20, previewing the ending song by Konomi Suzuki, titled “Missing Promise.” The opening song, titled “Analogy,” will be sung by Ayane, who performed two ending theme songs for Higurashi: When They Cry – GOU. 

Sotsu is the continuation of Higurashi: When They Cry – Gou and also serves as its Answer arc. Gou premiered as Higurashi: When They Cry – New, before revealing its actual title to be Gou after the release of the second episode. Like Gou, the staff for Sotsu includes Keiichirō Kawaguchi as director, Naoki Hayashi as series composer, Akio Watanabe as character designer, Takashi Ikehata as assistant director, and Kenji Kawai as music composer. Passione is in charge of the animation production. Meanwhile, the cast includes Yukari Tamura as Rika Furude, Mika Kanai as Satoko Honjō, Soichiro Hoshi as Keiichi Maebara, Mai Nakahara as Rena Ryūgū, and Satsuki Yukino as Mion and Shion Sonozaki.

The second season of I’m Standing on A Million Lives will premiere on July 10, at 12:30AM (GMT+8), one week after Japan. The anime is slated for a July 2 release in Japan. 

MAHO FILM is in charge of the animation production with various key staff returning such as Kumiko Habara as director, Takao Yoshioka as series composer, Ken Itō as music composer, Satoru Shibata as art director, and others. Japanese Virtual YouTuber Kaede Higuchi from the Nijisanji group will perform the opening theme song “Baddast,” while Kanako Takatsuki returns to perform the ending theme song “Subversive.” 

The anime is based on the manga series written by Naoki Yamakawa and illustrated by Akinari Nao. Kodansha USA is publishing the manga in English. 

Crunchyroll is streaming the first season and describes the show as: 

Aloof and logical middle school third-year Yusuke Yotsuya is transported to a game-like alternate world. He becomes a third player and takes on a dangerous quest with his classmates Iu Shindo and Kusue Hakozaki, who were transported there earlier.
