#What Did You Eat Yesterday? Feature Film Releases Full Trailer featuring Theme Song by Spitz

The official website for the forthcoming live-action feature film adaptation of Fumi Yoshinaga (Antique Bakery, Ooku: The Inner Chambers)’s Kinou Nani Tabeta? / What Did You Eat Yesterday? manga has posed a two-minute full trailer featuring the theme song “Daikoubutsu” (Favorite Food) provided by the four-member Japanese rock band Spitz. The clip starts with an introduction by the film’s two lead actors who play a gay couple, Hidetoshi Nishijima (Ryota Akitsu in Aircraft Carrier Ibuki) as Shiro Kakei and Seiyou Uchino (Jin Munakata in Aim for The Ace!) as Kenji Yabuki.

The cooking-themed manga featuring the daily life of a gay couple has been serialized in Kodansha’s Morning weekly magazine once a month since 2007, and its live-action TV drama adaptation was aired for 12 episodes in Japan from April to June 2019. Thanks to the huge popularity of the TV drama, the production of the theatrical edition was announced in March 2020.

The feature film Kinou Nani Tabeta? / What Did You Eat Yesterday? is set to be released in Japan on November 3, 2021.

Message from Masamune Kusano (Spitz vocalist/guitarist):

“It’s actually a serious story that asks a lot of questions about different ways of life, new ways of family, different forms of love, and such. But first of all, it’s a fun story! After laughing and laughing, I was suddenly moved to tears when I saw a scene like ‘What? Here?’ So when I was asked to write a song for this film, I got really excited, and this song ‘Daikoubutsu’ came out so smoothly. I feel some kind of fate. I hope you enjoy Spitz’s song as a dessert after enjoying Shiro-san’s delicious cooking which makes me want to write down its recipe.”
