#Steins;Gate’s Kurisu Makise Gets Phantom Breaker: Omnia Spotlight Trailer

“Steins;Gate’s Kurisu Makise Gets Phantom Breaker: Omnia Spotlight Trailer”

The upcoming Phantom Breaker: Omnia video game has released a spotlight trailer for Steins;Gate‘s Kurisu Makise, who is one of the 2D anime fighting game’s guest characters.

Kurisu is labelled as a close-range technical fighter on the game’s website. Her description reads:

An 18-year-old guest character from the sci-fi adventure visual novel series, Steins;Gate. A genius researcher, she utilizes strange gadgets when fighting in addition to her kick-based combat style.

An inquisitive girl known as “Assistant” by her peers, she graduated at a young age from an American university and then joined the Akihabara-based Future Gadget Laboratory. While not Duelist, her extensive (and often explosive) variety of gadgets pack quite a punch.

The Kurisu trailer is the latest in a series of character spotlight trailers that publisher Rocket Panda Games has been releasing on its YouTube channel. Various gameplay previews have been uploaded as well.

Phantom Breaker: Omnia is set to be released on March 15 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. Its Steam page describes it as a “massive update” to 2013’s Phantom Breaker: Extra and the first in the series to have English voices.

The game will feature a total roster of 22 characters, which includes “all the characters and guest characters” from Phantom Breaker: Extra. Kurisu isn’t the only guest character in the game, with Chaos;Head‘s Rimi Sakihata also being part of the roster. Steins;Gate and Chaos;Head both belong to the Science Adventure series of visual novels and have been adapted into anime series, with the former also inspiring an anime movie.

Phantom Breaker: Omnia will include the stories from Phantom Breaker: Extra and the first Phantom Breaker from 2011, and will offer both remixed and original versions of the background music. Gameplay-wise, it will allow players to pick between Quick, Hard, and Omnia fighting styles, with each having its own traits and advantages.

Steam describes the story as:

A mysterious man, known only as ‘Phantom’ appeared in Tokyo—the capital city of Japan—and manipulated vulnerable adolescents into fighting each other, bestowing upon them mystical weapons of great strength known as ‘Fu-mension Artifacts.’ In exchange, he promised to grant their wish if they survive.

Unbeknownst to the combatants, the fierce clashes between Fu-mension Artifacts caused distortions in space-time, which compromised the boundaries between parallel universes. The collapse of these parallel universes would ultimately break the seal, unleashing Phantom’s destructive powers.
