A 90-second teaser trailer for the forthcoming MAPPA-produced original jidaigeki fantasy anime YASUKE is now streamed on Netflix’s official YouTube channel. Its story is inspired by the real African who served Nobunaga Oda, one of the most powerful warlords in Japan’s Sengoku period.

In the six-episode anime series, Yasuke (CV: Lakeith Stanfield), a ronin (a samurai without a master) who once lived in hiding, fights again with his sword in his hand to protect a girl with mysterious power from the dark forces. LeSean Thomas (Black Dynamite, Children of Ether) serves as the original story writer/producer/director, alongside character designer Takeshi Koike (LUPIN THE IIIRD series) and soundtrack composer Flying Lotus.

YASUKE is set to premiere on Netflix worldwide on April 29, 2021.
