#Watch Elvis Costello Chat, Perform on Colbert

On last night’s Late Show, Stephen Colbert welcomed his favorite rock artist, Elvis Costello. After a chat about life during COVID-19, Costello’s new album Hey Clockface, and the upcoming Armed Forces box set, Costello recited a piece of spoken word sardonically portraying a populist egomaniac. He then performed the title track from Hey Clockface (out Friday) and his Armed Forces classic “Party Girl.” Pianist Jon Batiste remotely accompanied Costello on both songs. Watch it all happen below.

Colbert and Costello have a bit of a history together, as Costello appeared on Colbert’s Colbert Report Christmas special to sing “(What’s So Funny ’Bout) Peace Love and Understanding” and “There Are Much Worse Things to Believe In” with Colbert. Costello’s Armed Forces is getting a comprehensive box set reissue on November 6.
