“#WallStreetBets founder signs with Hollywood talent agency”
Jaime Rogozinski, the founder of WallStreetBets, is going to Hollywood with his tale of the Reddit forum that shook up Wall Street.
Rogozinski signed with United Talent Agency, the home of Jessica Alba, Kevin Hart and Seth Rogen, according to reports. UTA confirmed the news.
Rogozinski is looking to capitalize on his fame from founding a forum on the site Reddit where amateur investors trade stock tips and ideas. Early this year, these traders rushed to buy cheap stocks like GameStop, sending shares of the struggling video-game retailer to new highs, only to see them crater and then continue on an unpredictable rollercoaster ride.
Hollywood has been clamoring to tell the story of. the GameStop saga with several studios already commissioning at least nine projects based on the frenzied events of this year.
MGM is making a movie from the forthcoming book by Ben Mezrich, whose work was the basis of “The Social Network,” while “Paranormal Activity” producer Jason Blum is producing an HBO movie.
Rogozinski has already sold his life story to filmmaker Brett Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment, but that’s just the start of his show-business ambitions.
UTA has lined up a speaking engagement for Rogozinski at a conference in the fall, and has held preliminary talks about podcasts as well, according to Bloomberg. Speaking engagements tend to be lucrative side hustles for celebrities, authors, politicians and influencers. They can fetch anywhere from a few thousand dollars to as much as $500,000 per appearance.
