“Catherine Reitman’s Workin’ Moms to End With Season Seven”

Workin’ Moms, the Canadian sitcom that focuses on motherhood, will end with its upcoming seventh season. Workin’ Moms premiered in 2017 on Canada’s CBC Network. Two years later, Netflix picked up the series, introducing it to global audiences. Catherine Reitman, who writes, directs and stars in Workin’ Moms revealed the news today through an official statement. She said:

“And so, it is with love and gratitude that I’m announcing season seven as our final season. The biggest thank you to our partners, CBC and Netflix, for getting behind a show that points a flashlight into the darkest corners of motherhood. To those of you who’ve stopped me on the street, to share your love of the show — I see you. I hear you. And I thank you. Go get ’em mamas.”

Reitman, daughter of late Hollywood director Ivan Reitman, also posted a video to Twitter where she called the final season, a “love letter” to her fans and father.

Workin’ Moms follows Reitman’s character, Kate Foster, and her friends as they navigate the ups and downs of parenthood, friendship, and their careers. The final season will also star Dani Kind as Anne, Jessalyn Wanlim as Jenny, Ryan Belleville as Lionel, Sarah McVie as Val, Sadie Munroe as Alice, Peter Keleghan as Richard, Nikki Duval as Rosie, and Enuka Okuma as Sloane Mitchell, and Reitman’s real-life husband Philip Sternberg as her on-screen spouse Nathan.

Reitman and Sternberg also serve as co-executive producers, alongside Jonathan A. Walker, Tina Horwitz and Joe Sorge. Gabe and Karen Kicak will helm the seventh season while also serving as executive producers.

Before Workin’ Moms, Reitman appeared on she appeared in films and television series including Knocked Up, I Love You, Man, Friends with Benefits, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, How I Met Your Mother, Weeds, and Black-ish.

What to Expect Season Seven

Season seven will follow Workin’ Moms’ storylines from season six. When we last saw the group of friends Kate was allowing her son to live with his aunt, Sloane had just given birth to a baby, Jenny found herself unemployed, and Anne was trying to salvage her marriage to Lionel. Viewers are likely most eager to know what happens after the season’s tense cliffhanger when Anne’s daughter Alice confronts a stalker, a former patient of Anne.


The seventh and final season, consisting of 13 half-hour episodes, will debut on CBC and CBC Gem in 2023, and a global Netflix release will follow. It is currently filming throughout Toronto.
