#Universal’s ‘Wolf Man’ Delays Release to Early 2025

Universal Pictures is adjusting its plans for two upcoming horror titles from Blumhouse.

The studio announced Friday that Wolf Man, the werewolf thriller from filmmaker Leigh Whannell (Invisible Man), has delayed its release by three months and will now open wide in theaters on Jan. 17, 2025. Wolf Man, which stars Christopher Abbott (Poor Things) as a man whose family is stalked by a dangerous predator, was written and directed by Whannell. It had previously been scheduled for a pre-Halloween release on Oct. 25, 2024.

Blumhouse and Motel Movies are behind Wolf Man, which also stars Julia Garner and previously had Ryan Gosling attached as the lead. Jason Blum produces the movie that reinvents the classic Universal monster and counts Whannell, Gosling, Ken Kao, Bea Sequeira and Mel Turner as executive producers.

Additionally, Universal announced that Blumhouse’s The Woman in the Yard, which was previously set for theatrical release on Jan. 10, 2025, has been removed from the calendar. The studio plans to announce a new release date at a later time.

The Woman in the Yard is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Black Adam, Jungle Cruise) and stars Danielle Deadwyler (Till). Plot details are being kept under wraps for the original horror film that has a script from Sam Stefanak.

Producers on The Woman in the Yard are Blum and Stephanie Allain, while executive producers include Collet-Serra, Deadwyler, Gabrielle Ebron, Scott Greenberg and James Moran.
