#Uncle From Another World Anime Suffers New Delay

“Uncle From Another World Anime Suffers New Delay”

The Uncle From Another World anime adaptation has been hit with yet another delay. This time, its 13th episode is getting pushed from its intended December 29 premiere date to an unspecified date.

According to the official statement, the new delay is due to the worsening Covid 19 situation in China, which has caused some outsourced production materials to be delayed.

Uncle From Another World began in Japan on July 6. It received its first delay in August, with the fifth episode being pushed from August 3 to August 17. The show suffered another delay after its seventh episode premiered on August 31, with Episode 8 only arriving on November 24.

All of the previous delays were also related to Covid-19. In the case of the second delay, a tweet from Ippei Ichii, the director and storyboarder of Uncle From Another World‘s fifth episode, indicated that there was more to the story by hinting at production management issues.

Uncle From Another World is based on the Kadokawa-published manga by Hotondoshindeiru, which began in 2018 and has eight tankoubon volumes as of August 2022. The manga is is serialized on Web Comic Apanta and published under the MF Comics label. The anime is available internationally on Netflix, albeit with different release schedules.

Yen Press describes the manga as:

Seventeen years ago, Takafumi’s uncle fell into a coma, but now he’s back like a man risen from his grave. Soon, Takafumi discovers two bizarre things: His uncle treasures video games above all else, and, while comatose, he was actually transported to another world as some heroic guardian! Now, not only does Takafumi have to room with an uncle who is literally magical, he also has to catch the guy up on two decades of history—smartphones, high-speed internet, modern anime tropes…and the traumatic outcome of the ’90s console war!

The main staff of the anime includes Shigeki Kawai (Blue Exorcist assistant director) as director, Kenta Ihara (Mieruko-Chan) as series composer and scriptwriter, and Kazuhiro Oota (Natsu no Arashi!) as character designer. Atelier Pontdarc is the animation production company. Meanwhile, the main cast includes Takehito Koyasu as Ojisan, Jun Fukuyama as Takafumi, Mikako Komatsu as Fujimiya, Haruka Tomatsu as Elf, Aoi Yuuki as Mabel, and Aki Toyosaki as Alicia.
