#The Detective Is Already Dead Light Novels Get Anime Adaptation, Key Visual Released

The mystery and romance-comedy light novel series Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru (The Detective Is Already Dead) is getting an anime adaptation. A key visual was released, with a second visual to be revealed on February 20.

Additionally, images of the character designs were released as well.

The staff of The Detective Is Already Dead includes Manabu Kurihara (Uzaki-chan Wants To Hang Out character designer) as director, Deko Akao (Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town) as series composer, and Yousuke Itou (Hensuki: Are You Willing To Fall In Love With A Pervert, As Long As She’s A Cutie?) as character designer. ENGI is in charge of the animation production. 

Meanwhile, the cast includes Shin Nagai as protagonist Kimihiko Kimizuka, Saki Miyashita (LBX Girls) as the titular detective Siesta, Ayana Taketatsu (The Quintessential Quintuplets) as Nagisa Natsunagi, Kanon Takao (Diary of Our Days at the Breakwater) as Yui Saikawa, Saho Shirasu as Charlotte Arisaka Anderson, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Sword Art Online series) as Koumori, and Takehito Koyasu (Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World) as Chameleon.

The Detective Is Already Dead is based on a light novel series written by Nigojuu with illustrations by Umibouzu. The light novels began in 2019 and received a manga adaptation in late 2020. The story follows Kimihiko, a third-year high school student who met the detective Siesta and became her assistant during a hijacking four years ago. After three years of adventures, Kimihiko is left on his own when Siesta dies.
