The U.S. House will not be in session next week and will likely be out of session until after the November elections, another blow to hopes for getting another fiscal stimulus deal passed in Congress soon.

The House is holding two votes Friday morning, and according to a Democratic leadership aide, is out next week, as previously scheduled.

“But it will be just like August – we’ll have regular pro forma sessions, and Leader Hoyer has made it very clear that he will call Members back if there is legislation to vote on,” the aide said.

The Senate remains in session next week, but the focus of talks on another package to help the economy recover from the coronavirus pandemic has been between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.
