#Twitter’s all-too-telling move to un-name journalist Andy Ngo

#Twitter’s all-too-telling move to un-name journalist Andy Ngo

It’s a small thing, but telling of the presumption of the twits who run Twitter: After lefty complaints that Andy Ngo shouldn’t be called a “journalist” on the site’s curated news feed, the social-media giant rewrote a headline to call him just an “author.”

Ngo reports, researches and writes for the public about the outrages of Antifa goons. He has a job as an editor with a news organization, the Canada-based site The Post Millennial.

How is he not a journalist?

Indeed, that he’s doing the work that establishment outlets skip out on makes him more of a journo than the members of the press who turn a blind eye to Antifa’s violence.

He’s now been beaten up twice by Antifa types who resent his work exposing the truth about their activities. The requests to not label him a “journalist” were just a different kind of attack. Ngo’s response tweet got to the heart of it: “My detractors do this because they want to take away the one thing that all decent people agree on: press freedom is sacred. Who the far-left defines as ‘press’ are those who write what they approve of.”

By going along, Twitter once again proved that it doesn’t understand what journalism and free speech actually mean.
