The forthcoming TV anime adaptation of Rifujin na Magonote's isekai fantasy light novel series Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu / Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is finally set to premiere in Japan in January 2021. The news was revealed during the special live-streaming program hosted by the anime's four main voice cast members on YouTube and Nico Nico Live today.

When the anime project was announced back in October 2019, it was planned to be aired in 2020, but the anime's official website confirmed that the broadcast was postponed to 2021 due to "various circumstances."

The TV anime adaptation is directed by Manabu Okamoto (GAMERS!), and StudioBind, a new anime production studio founded in November 2018 as a joint venture between WHITE FOX and EGG FIRM, works on anime production.

The novel was first serialized on the user-generated novel publishing website Shousetsuka ni Narou from September 2012 to April 2015. Its print edition has been published from KADOKAWA's MF Books imprint since January 2014, and its total print run has surpassed four million copies.

Its English language edition has been published by Seven Seas Entertainment since May 2019. The publisher introduces its synopsis as below:

Just when an unemployed thirty-four-year-old otaku reaches a dead end in life and decides that it’s time to turn over a new leaf—he gets run over by a truck and dies! Shockingly, he finds himself reborn into an infant’s body in a strange new world of swords and magic. His new identity is Rudeus Grayrat, but he still retains the memories of his previous life. Follow Rudeus from infancy to adulthood, as he struggles to redeem himself in a wondrous yet dangerous world.

Also in the program, it was announced that a smartphone game based on the novel, titled "Mushoku Tensei ~Game ni Nattemo Honki Dasu~" (Jobless Reincarnation: I will seriously try if it becomes a game) is now in the works by Beaglee for a release in 2021. Check out the game's first PV below.
