The mayor of Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday lifted a curfew he’d imposed a day earlier so that it would not interfere with President Trump’s campaign rally Saturday night in the city.

“Last night, I enacted a curfew at the request of Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin, following consultation with the United States Secret Service based on intelligence they had received,” Mayor G.T. Bynum said in a statement, The Tulsa World reported

“Today, we were told the curfew is no longer necessary so I am rescinding it.”

On Thursday, the Republican had warned of outsiders coming to the city to stir up unrest.

“As Mayor, I have received information from the Tulsa Police Department and other law enforcement agencies that shows that individuals from organized groups who have been involved in destructive and violent behavior in other States are planning to travel to the City of Tulsa for purposes of causing unrest in and around the city,” Bynum said in his order before the about-face, which apparently came after he had a conversation with Trump.

“I just spoke to the highly respected Mayor of Tulsa, G.T. Bynum, who informed me there will be no curfew tonight or tomorrow for our many supporters attending the #MAGA Rally. Enjoy yourselves – thank you to Mayor Bynum!” the president tweeted.

The Secret Service asked Tulsa to lift the curfew order this weekend, according to a press release.
