#Trump wants to nix plan for White House staffers to get vaccine first

President Trump on Sunday night said that he wants to cancel a reported plan that would offer White House staffers Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine before most American frontline workers.

Trump said on Twitter that he was not scheduled to take the vaccine anytime soon and that any staffers would only receive the jab this week if necessary.

“People working in the White House should receive the vaccine somewhat later in the program, unless specifically necessary,” Trump tweeted.

“I have asked that this adjustment be made. I am not scheduled to take the vaccine, but look forward to doing so at the appropriate time. Thank you!”

Earlier on Sunday, Bloomberg reported that key government staffers would have the option to take the newly-approved shot as soon as Monday.

“The American people should have confidence that they are receiving the same safe and effective vaccine as senior officials of the United States government,” National Security Council spokesman John Ullyot told the outlet.

Officials have recommended that healthcare workers and nursing home residents be first in line for the shot.

The New York Times reported that West Wing staff who work closely with Trump were told that they had been scheduled to receive the vax soon.

The West Wing has seen dozens of coronavirus infections, including the president, the first lady, their son Barron, press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and, most recently, chief of staff Mark Meadows.
