#Trailer for Reiwa no Di Gi Charat Mini-Anime Released

A trailer has been released for Reiwa no Di Gi Charat, the “mini-anime” that is meant to celebrate the Di Gi Charat franchise’s 24th anniversary. The trailer features the theme song “Aimaisa, Koufukuron” by Masami Okui.

The anime will premiere in Fall 2022.

Reiwa no Di Gi Charat‘s staff includes Hiroaki Sakurai (Mewkledreamy Mix!, Di Gi Charat Nyo!) as director, Atsuko Watanabe (Hanayamata) as character designer, and Koge-Donbo* (Di Gi Charat creator) as original character designer. Liden Films is the animation production studio.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Asami Sanada as the titular Di Gi Charat, Miyuki Sawashiro as Puchi Charat, Kyouko Hikami as Rabi~en~Rose, and Yoshiko Kamei as Gema.

Di Gi Charat, or Dejiko, was created in 1998 and is the mascot for Broccoli, a company that produces character goods, computer software and trading card games, and the Broccoli-managed Gamers store. The Di Gi Charat website describes her as a princess from the Di Gi Charat planet that came to Earth in order to become a popular actress. She sports cat ears, a maid uniform, and a tendency to end her sentences with “Nyo.” Despite her cute appearance, Di Gi Charat sports some less than savory personality traits.

The character made her first manga appearance in the year of her creation, while her first anime appearance was in 1999. In addition to multiple manga and anime, Di Gi Charat has also inspired other media such as drama CDs, novels, and games. Prior to Reiwa no Di Gi Charat, the last Di Gi Charat anime was the 2006 romance Winter Garden, which Sakurai also directed.
