The official website for the Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru anime series has released a 60-second teaser trailer for the first chapter of its forthcoming trilogy film project for Toku Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru ~Setsugetsuka~ (literally means Special Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru ~Snow, Moon, and Flower~).

 

Following the well-received two TV series in 2016 amd 2018, the film project was announced in February 2021. Throughout the three chapters, 24 new sword boys will be introduced, for a total of 86 sword boys.

 

The first chapter “Yuki no Maki (Chapter Snow)” directed by Takashi Naoya (TV series first season director) is set to be released in Japan on May 20, 2022. Then the second chapter “Tsuki no Maki (Chapter Moon)” directed by Tomoaki Koshida (TV series second season director) and the third chapter “Hana no Maki (Chapter Flower)” directed by Sumie Noro (Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle assistant director) will follow on July 8 and September 1, respectively. Junichiro Taniguchi, who has worked on all of the previous series, again serves as character designer and chief animation director. Doga Kobo works on anime production.
