#Topaz Jones Announces Album, Shares New Song “Herringbone”: Listen

Topaz Jones has announced his next album. Don’t Go Tellin’ Your Momma follows the New Jersey rapper’s 2016 album Arcade. The new record does not yet have a release date, but will be accompanied by a short film of the same name, written and directed by Jones alongside creative duo rubberband. Today (February 5), Jones has shared lead single “Herringbone,” which you can hear below.

“Herringbone” is Jones’ first new piece of music in three years. The single is produced by Jones, Jack Hallenbeck, and Alissia Benveniste. Don’t Go Tellin’ Your Momma was recorded live in the Pocono Mountains with an extended cast of collaborators and musicians. Of Don’t Go Tellin’ Your Momma—film and album—Jones said in a press release:

The film is all the things I couldn’t say in musical notes. The music is everything I couldn’t write in words, even though there’s lyrics that speak to it as well, but emotionally, it’s everything I couldn’t necessarily write down and the film is everything that I couldn’t put in song. It is single-handedly the most gratifying, fulfilling experience I’ve had as an artist.

Don’t Go Tellin’ Your Momma recently screened at Sundance, taking home the Short Film Jury Award: Nonfiction. Check out a trailer for the short film below.
