On Tuesday (March 1), HITS Daily Double reported Doechii had signed a deal with famed West Coast powerhouse label, Top Dawg Entertainment. If that wasn’t big enough news, there’s reportedly a bidding war between major labels looking to handle her distribution. The signing makes sense, given Doechii was a feature on Isaiah Rashad’s latest album, The House Is Burning and performed on spot dates during his Lil Sunny’s Awesome Vacation Tour.

The announcement comes after fans have been wondering what the future looks like for TDE. In August, Kendrick Lamar shocked the world when he announced his next album would be his final for the famed label, and TDE began looking towards the future.
Doechii began making music in 2015 and initially caught a buzz with her song ‘Girls.’ She received a major boost on TikTok last year when her song “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake” went viral on the popular app. The track grabbed one hundred million listens via TikTok and sits at 30 million-plus Spotify streams and nearly 2 million YouTube views. The Tampa native’s eccentric style and sound make her a valid fit for a 2022 HipHopDX Rising Star.
