Nintendo announced today that it has entered an agreement to acquire Dynamo Pictures, Inc., a CG animation studio which has worked on projects like Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045 Season 2, Eiga Tropical-Rouge! PreCure: Yuki no Princess to Kiseki no Yubiwa, and Earwig and the Witch. The video game company said that it expects the acquisition to close on October 3.

Established in 2011 and headquartered in Tokyo, Dynamo Pictures, Inc. will be made a wholly-owned subsidiary and renamed as Nintendo Pictures Co., Ltd with the deal. The company will be responsible for “development of visual content utilizing Nintendo IP,” with Nintendo saying that it seeks to “strengthen the planning and production structure of visual content in the Nintendo group.”

Dynamo Pictures, Inc. is headed by Hiroshi Hirokawa and has an office in Okinawa. Aside from CG planning and production and 3DCG tool development, the studio operates a motion capture studio and also engages in work related to original stereoscopic imaging technology and video contents. 

Some of the other past projects listed on the studio’s website include Gekijouban Macross Delta: Zettai Live!!!!!!, Yuri!!! on Ice, and Garo: Divine Flame for CG and NieR: Replicant ver.1.22474487139…, Idoly Pride, and Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekidou for motion capture.
