“#Toei Animation Teams Up With Korean Production House CJ ENM for Collaborative Works”
Toei Animation announced in a press release today that the anime studio signed a partnership with CJ ENM on October 8 for a “strategic business alliance.” CJ ENM is one of the biggest entertainment companies in Asia and operates in South Korea, the studio has produced live-action hits such as the Academy Award-winning film Parasite and the Netflix smash-hit show Crash Landing on You.
The partnership will see the two companies produce joint works based on new and existing IPs, which will see CJ ENM create live-action projects based on Toei Animation anime and Toei will produce animated works on CJ ENM properties “for the global market.” The partnership will also open doors for the newly produced works to be made by JK Films, a sister company to CJ ENM, and work with American production company Skydance, who are currently producing the upcoming Sword Art Online, Steins;Gate, and Miraculous live-action projects.
At this time, no projects between the two companies have been confirmed, but have confirmed that joint projects will be released from 2023.
