#TikTok video puts Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Dreams’ back on charts

Say viral videos, they will come and they will go — when the internet loves you, you’ll know. You’ll know.

A viral TikTok clip of a man drinking cranberry juice and longboarding to the Fleetwood Mac track “Dreams” — and not, ironically, the Cranberries’ song “Dreams” — has both brought the rock group a spike in sales and the skater thousands in donations.

“Morning vibe,” skater Nathan Apodaca captioned the video in which he glugs a large bottle of Ocean Spray Cran-Raspberry juice while skating down a freeway and singing along with Stevie Nicks on the hit off of the group’s 1977 album “Rumours.” Since posting last weekend, the clip has racked up over 18 million views for Apodaca, who goes by 420doggface208 on the social media platform.

Fleetwood Mac has formally announced they approve of the video, which Apodaca posted on Friday. “We love this!” the band’s official Twitter account tweeted Saturday along with the clip.

The group has good reason to dig his video. Its popularity has brought their song back to the charts, where it currently sits at No. 29 on the daily version of the Rolling Stone Top 100 Songs Chart, which ranks the biggest songs in the US using a combination of sales and on-demand audio streams. “Dreams” streams nearly tripled between Saturday and Monday, from an average of 49,000 streams a day before the video was uploaded to an average of 105,000 times a day in the three days after the song was posted, wrote the publication. Apple data found that the song saw a 221 percent increase in streams, with a 1,137 percent surge for Shazam app searches for the song — evidence of virgin listeners.

And Apodaca has also monetarily benefited from his flash of fame. The Idaho resident, who filmed the clip in Idaho Falls, has so far made $10,000 in donations thanks to the video going viral, he told TMZ.

“It’s crazy,” he said of the money, which has been pouring into his Venmo, Cash App and PayPal. “It’s a blessing.”

He plans to give $5,000 to his mother and buy himself a new RV, as his current one has no running water and more than 300,000 miles on it. The battery is also unreliable, he said, which is what led to the creation of his video when, on his way to work recently, it shut off. “I just jumped on my longboard,” he explained. “I had my cranberry juice with me, cause that’s my drink.”

He would like Ocean Spray to know that, if they would like to shoot a commercial with him, “I’m ready.”
