MAHWAH, NJ – A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie once said he would start suing rappers who bit his sound but instead, a lawsuit arrived on his doorstep to kick off the New Year. According to AllHipHop, the Bronx-bred rapper is being sued over damages to a New Jersey property he rented from 2017 to 2018.

Lawrence and Carolyn Guarino rented their Mahwah, New Jersey mansion to A Boogie — born Artist Dubose — in September 2017 and when his lease ended in December 2018, the damages left the property unrentable to new tenants. A Boogie allegedly put down $15,000 in a security deposit and agreed to a monthly rent charge of $10,000.

The lawsuit claims the 25-year-old and his crew caused $263,592.24 in extensive damages to the property, which include clogged toilets, ruined landscaping, cut carpets, water damage to finishes and leaving a couple of vehicles abandoned at the residence.

The Guarinos filed a police report with local law enforcement and went on to sue A Boogie and his High Bridge The Label record imprint. They reportedly hope to see the suit make it in front of a grand jury in the New Jersey Supreme Court.

The “Drowning” rapper is no stranger to legal issues. A Boogie was arrested last December in connection to a shooting that took place outside RAIN nightclub in Teaneck, New Jersey, where A Boogie was celebrating his 25th birthday. He was charged with one count each of unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of marijuana.
