#Three people and cat dead after plane crashes into Detroit home

A family of three was killed when a small plane crashed into a home in a suburb of Detroit, officials said.

The crash killed all three people inside the plane, identified as David Compo, the president of the Home Builders Association of Southeast Michigan, his wife MIchelle and their son Dawson, HBA President Michael Stoskopf said, according to a tweet by Mark Cavitt of the Oakland Press.

A cat died in the Lyon Township home that was struck by the plane about 45 minutes west of Detroit, according to local station WDIV.

The family inside the home escaped, but the impact set the two-story Russet Lane residence ablaze, leaving it a charred, blackened mess, images from the scene show.

The crash is under investigation.
