The English directorial debut from Dutch actress and director Halina Reijn, Bodies Bodies Bodies stars recent Saturday Night Live-alum Pete Davidson and The Hate U Give’s Amandla Stenberg. Maria Bakalova, Rachel Sennott, Myha’la Herrold, Chase Sui Wonders, and Lee Pace round out the principal cast.The latest addition to a run of successful horror films for the studio, A24’s official site describes Bodies Bodies Bodies as following “a group of rich 20-somethings” who plan a hurricane party at a remote family mansion when a party game (the titular Bodies Bodies Bodies) goes terribly awry in this “fresh and funny look at backstabbing, fake friends, and one party gone very, very wrong.”

The first look at Bodies Bodies Bodies is here, and it’s both violent and darkly funny. Featuring a new original song by Charli XCX, the trailer takes a jab at politically correct culture. Making good on its promise of not being a safe space, clips of bloody betrayals between friends are interspersed with psychological buzzwords—”You’re always gaslighting me!” “You f***ing trigger me!” “You’re so toxic!” “You’re silencing me!”
The film made its world premiere at 2022’s SXSW to l positive reviews, with Bloody Disgusting’s Meagan Navarro writing:
The deaths are brutal and bloody but somehow not nearly as savage as the cattiness amongst this group. DeLappe and Reijn take aim at prevalent social media toxicity, privilege, and false allyship and friendships through biting satire. The pitch-black humor has sharp teeth and hurts almost as much, sometimes more, as the gnarly kills…Using a familiar social deduction game to implode an affluent group of fake friends in the most heinous way makes for a dementedly fun time that’s just as mean-spirited with the horror as it is the comedy
Written by Kristen Roupenian, Sarah DeLappe, Chloe Okuno, Joshua Sharp, and Aaron Jackson, the film was produced by David Hinojosa, Ali Herting, Lara Costa-Calzado, and Tatiana Bears. Bodies Bodies Bodies is rated R for “violence, bloody images, drug use, sexual references, and pervasive language.”
