#The worst songs of 2020 were as lousy as this year felt

#The worst songs of 2020 were as lousy as this year felt

In a year when the whole world felt out of tune, these tracks hit all the wrong notes.

1. Iggy Pop, “Dirty Little Virus”

In the ultimate Scrooge move, the punk-rock icon dropped a COVID-19 dirge right before Christmas. “COVID-19 is on the scene/The boys and the girls have stopped their world/Grandpa is dead/Got Trump instead,” he growls, later adding, “She’s only 19, but she can kill you.” Too soon, Iggy. Too soon.

2. BTS, “Dis-ease”

Despite the pandemic, the South Korean septet had plenty of reason to celebrate in 2020, notching three No. 1 singles (including Grammy-nominated “Dynamite”), breaking YouTube records and generally running the world. But when Time magazine’s Entertainer of the Year decided to chime in on the coronavirus crisis with the cheesiest of puns, it was a major dis-service.

3. Blackpink featuring Cardi B, “Bet You Wanna”

Representing for the ladies of K-pop, this girl group collaborated with powerhouses such as Lady Gaga (“Sour Candy”) and Selena Gomez (“Ice Cream”) this year. But coming in the wake of “WAP,” this hip-pop joint with Cardi B was just plain wack.

4. Lady Gaga & Elton John, “Sine from Above”

Although Gaga returned to the disco heavens on “Chromatica,” this disappointing duet with the Rocket Man failed to achieve liftoff. And putting those vocal effects on Elton, making his voice barely recognizable, was more sin than “Sine.”

5. Wyld Stallyns featuring Animals as Leaders & Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, “Face the Music”

This song was supposed to save the world in “Bill & Ted Face the Music.” Instead, this prog-rock disaster was most excruciating. Consider us doomed.
