#The War of The Rohirrim Anime Film Reveals 1st Preview Visuals

Three new preview visuals have been revealed for the upcoming high fantasy anime film The Lord of The Rings: The War of The Rohirrim. The film is scheduled to hit North American theaters on December 13, 2024. 

The Lord Of The Rings: The War Of The Rohirrim is directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Blade Runner: Black Lotus co-director, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) with a screenplay from Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou. The screenplay is based on a story by The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance showrunners Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews. Sola Entertainment is producing the film. 

Meanwhile, the film’s main voice cast stars: 

  • • Brian Cox as Helm Hammerhand
  • • Gaia Wise as Héra
  • • Luke Pasqualino as Wulf
  • • Miranda Otto as Éowyn (reprises her role from The Lord of the Rings film trilogy)

Other voice cast members playing undisclosed roles in the film include: 

  • • Lorraine Ashbourne
  • • Yazdan Qafouri
  • • Benjamin Wainwright
  • • Laurence Ubong Williams
  • • Shaun Dooley
  • • Michael Wildman
  • • Jude Akuwudike

The film is being released and distributed by Warner Bros’ New Line Cinema production studio, which describes the synopsis as: 

Set 183 years before the events chronicled in the original trilogy of films, “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” tells the fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan. A sudden attack by Wulf, a clever and ruthless Dunlending lord seeking vengeance for the death of his father, forces Helm and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient stronghold of the Hornburg—a mighty fortress that will later come to be known as Helm’s Deep. Finding herself in an increasingly desperate situation, Héra, the daughter of Helm, must summon the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy intent on their total destruction.
