#DeMarcus Cousins fumes as Rockets’ COVID chaos gets worse

With their season opener already postponed earlier this week, the Houston Rockets are dealing with a new string of COVID-19 contact tracing ahead of Saturday’s game against Portland due to a positive test by a team staffer.

The latest round of contract tracing involves Eric Gordon and others, with John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins facing seven-day quarantines, according to The Athletic.

The Rockets’ game Wednesday against Oklahoma City was postponed because the team didn’t have the league-mandated minimum eight players to play. The NBA announced that three Rockets players had tested positive or inconclusive for coronavirus, and four others were quarantined due to the league’s health and safety protocols.

Ben McLemore and rookie Kenyon Martin Jr. were among the Houston players to test positive on Wednesday, according to ESPN.

James Harden also was ineligible to play due to a violation of the league’s health and safety protocols, earning a $50,000 fine after video surfaced on social media of him without a mask at a party Monday night. Harden’s four-day quarantine expires Friday, so he would be eligible to face the Trail Blazers if Saturday’s game is played.

Cousins seemed angered by the latest round of issues, tweeting “maneuver through the bulls—t” along with a red angry-face emoji Thursday night.
