“Collar × Malice Anime Film Declassifies More Cast, New Key Visual”

 

Studio DEEN‘s two-part film adaptation of the Collar × Malice video game, Collar × Malice -deep cover-, will be making its way to theaters later this year. In the meantime, we have a little extra news on the upcoming film, starting with two casting announcements.

 

It was reported today that Kaede Hondo (Haruka Konoe in Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club) will be stepping into the role of Ichika Hoshino, the game series’s protagonist. Joining her will be Katsuyuki Konishi (Tengen Uzui in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) as Mitsuru Sowa, a new character created exclusively for the film adaptation. Sowa is an inspector from the Metropolitan Police Department dispatched to Shinjuku to investigate “a certain incident.”

Developed and published by Idea Factory under their Otomate bran, Collar × Malice was released for PlayStation Vita in Japan in August 2016 and for Nintendo Switch in March 2020. It was also localized in North America and Europe by Aksys Games in July 2017. The company describes the game as such:

 

A dangerous shadow organization launches a campaign of fear and violence in the city of Shinjuku, pushing society to the brink of chaos. As a young police officer tasked with restoring order, you become the target of an attack, and have a poisonous collar attached to your neck. With the situation spiraling out of control and time running out, five mysterious strangers appear to aid you in your quest for the truth. Who can you trust? Will you be able to save yourself and the soul of Shinjuku from the clutches of oblivion? In a city bound by malice, you are the only hope for salvation!

 

The first film is schedule to open on May 26, with the second to follow on June 23.
