#Nintendo and Luxury Watchmaker TAG Heuer Combine To Release Limited-Edition Super Mario Smartwatch

Nintendo has a history of tying up with major brands on occasion, usually to offer special products such as apparel, footwear, or accessories, but this latest collaboration and product release is a bit dfifferent from past collaborations, especially with a brand like TAG Heuer, who are better known for making luxury wristwatches and are a mainstay during major sporting events, serving as a major sponsor and timekeeper.

Now, both companies have collaborated on a unique smartwatch that takes elements of the Super Mario franchise and adds a luxurious look and feel to the end result in the TAG Heuer Connected x Super Mario Edition. This edition of the TAG Heuer Connected line of smartwatches is heavily branded with signature Super Mario iconography such as a warp pipe on the 6 ‘o clock position of the bezel, Magic Mushroom on the 3 ‘o clock position, and a Super Star on the 9 ‘o clock position.

Other subtle touches include an engraved “M” on the strap buckles of the included interchangeable watch bands, multiple Mario watch faces, and the most unique aspect of the watch is the included Mario “easter eggs” built into the Wear OS software, such as sound effects, animations and customized Mario goal animations when using the watch as a fitness tracker. The watch will be limited to 2000 units worldwide available across TAG Heuer’s online shop and selected boutiques, with pre-registration required to ensure an opportunity for purchase.  MSRP for the watch will be announced when the watch is released on July 15th.
