The Shy Hero and the Assassin Princesses Reveals New Trailer Spotlighting Main Opening Theme

A new main trailer has been revealed for the upcoming The Shy Hero and the Assassin Princesses TV anime adaptation, which spotlights the show’s main opening theme. The series is scheduled to premiere in Japan on July 12, 2025. 

The opening theme song spotlighted in the new trailer is “Tenden ‌Barabara,” performed by Japanese singer Yoshino.

Meanwhile, another promotional video was released, previewing the show’s ending theme “Suki Magazine,” performed by the main voice actresses of Ciel, Anemone, and Goa. 

Noriaki Akitaya (Reborn as a Vending Machine) is directing the anime series, with Michiko Yokote (Puniru is a Kawaii Slime) as series screenwriter and Takao Sanao (The Unwanted Immortal Adventurer) as character designer. CONNECT is handling the animation production. 

Meanwhile, the anime’s voice cast includes: 

  • • Shunsuke Takeuchi as Toto
  • • Iori Saeki as Ciel
  • • Hitomi Ueda as Anemone
  • • Haruka Shiraishi as Goa

The anime is based on the fantasy romantic comedy manga (known in Japanese as Kizetsu Yusha to Ansatsu Hime), written by Norishirochan and illustrated by Yukiji Setsuda. It was first serialized in Akira Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion on October 27, 2022 and has released 11 tankobon volumes as of April 2025. A 12th volume will be released on July 8, 2025.

Crunchyroll will stream The Shy Hero and the Assassin Princesses anime worldwide, outside of Japan, and describes the main synopsis as: 

The hero Toto has talent, but his shyness has prevented him from forming a party. As he languishes in the town of origins, three beautiful women —Ciel, Anemone, and Goa — invite Toto to join their party out of the blue. Toto gears up to begin the journey, but unbeknownst to him, all three women are plotting to kill him for their own reasons!
