#FBI taking a ‘fresh look’ at Breonna Taylor’s fatal police shooting

The FBI on Friday said it is taking a “fresh look” at the Breonna Taylor case in Kentucky — as agents descended on the scene of the racially charged, fatal police shooting.

“FBI Louisville is conducting an independent investigation into all aspects of the death of Breonna Taylor,” the federal bureau tweeted. 

“When investigating potential civil rights violations, the FBI will take a fresh look at all the evidence, including interviewing witnesses who have already spoken to the original investigating agency, interviewing witnesses who have not yet spoken to law enforcement, and examining all physical and video evidence to better understand what transpired.

“Today’s action is part of this process.”

Taylor, a 26-year-old black EMT, was killed in a barrage of police bullets at her home March 13 when three white plainclothes cops barged in as part of a drug probe.

Taylor’s boyfriend has said he thought the officers were intruders and fired his gun at them, prompting them to unleash a hail of more than 25 bullets, striking Taylor eight times and killing her. No drugs were found at the home.

The city’s police chief moved to boot one of the officers from the force Friday, saying he fired “wantonly and blindly.” The other two cops are on administrative leave.

It is unclear what if any criminal charges they will face.
