The My Master Has No Tail anime has released its second trailer. The new video provides a preview of the newly announced cast that includes Ayana Taketatsu as Enshi Kirino, Akira Ishida as Utaroku Ebisuya, and Junichi Suwabe as Buncho Daikokutei. 

Also spotlighted are the previously announced Hibiku Yamamura as Bunko Daikokutei and Takuya Eguchi as Tsubaki Byakudanji.

My Master Has No Tail will premiere in Japan in October. It is based on the Kodansha-published “Taisho rakugo fantasy” manga by TNSK, which began in 2019 and will release its eighth tankoubon volume on June 7, 2022. The manga is serialized in good! Afternoon magazine and published under the Afternoon KC label. 

The story follows Mameda, a tanuki who dreams of being able to shapeshift into a human someday. Heading to Osaka, a series of events leads to Mameda requesting to be the pupil of a beautiful, black-haired rakugo teller. 

The anime’s staff includes Hideyo Yamamoto (Cells at Work! BLACK) as director, Touko Machida (PuraOre! Pride of Orange) as series composer and one of the scriptwriters, Haruka Yamauchi (Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: The Battle of Unato co-sub character designer) as character designer, and Arte Refact’s Tsukasa Yatoki, Atsushi Harada, and Yuuki Honda as music composers. Liden Films is the animation production company.

Meanwhile, the cast includes  M.A.O as Mameda, Lynn as Tsubaki Shirara, Ayumu Murase as Sakujiro, Natsuki Aikawa as Omatsu, Ikumi Hasegawa as Koito, and Yuuichirou Umehara as Rakuda.
