The next Comic Market event, Comiket 100, is set to be held from August 13-14 at Tokyo Big Sight, and the official channels updated with some new policy information. The number of participants is estimated to be around 80-90,000 per day—an increase from 55,000 at Comiket 99—and while masks will be mandatory, the organizers announced that they will no longer require proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test for entry.

Here’s more of what they had to say on that matter in the official statement:

At our last announcement in January, COVID-19 was still rapidly spreading and we were expecting to have to check either vaccination status or recent negative test, like we had to at C99. However, given recent stabilization, current government guidelines forgo such checks, as long as proper “infection prevention measures” are being implemented.

Comiket usually kicks off at 10:00am, but this year it will start at 10:30am. Temperature checks will be conducted at entry, and per policy the maximum number of attendees has been capped to prevent overcrowding. Those who want to purchase tickets will need to do so in advance, as none will be available on site, and further details will be announced in the coming weeks.

When this year’s dates were first confirmed back in January, it was stated that attendees would need to show their vaccination card—which they said might possibly need to be updated to include a third shot depending on the state of Japan’s booster program at the time—or a negative PCR certificate.
