#The Colors Within Original Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Now Available on Music Streaming Platforms

Milan Records has announced that The Colors Within Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is now available on several music streaming platforms. The film’s soundtrack is composed and written by Kensuke Ushio (DAN DA DAN, The Heike Story).

The new project marks Ushio’s fourth collaboration with Naoko Yamada, after working on A Silent Voice, Liz and the Blue Bird, and The Heike Story. The 52-track collection is divided between two discs and features both score music and full-length versions of songs performed by the film’s characters.

The songs range in different styles from atmospheric, piano-driven melodies to electronic, idiosyncratic instrumentations and New Wave-influenced synth tracks.

The Colors Within first premiered in Japan on August 30, 2024 after a delay from its original fall 2023 release date. It was part of Annecy 2024’s feature film selection and the Animation Golden Goblet Award winner at Shanghai International Film Festival 2024. The film also premiered in Singapore on December 5, 2024, in Malaysia on November 21, 2024, and in the Philippines on October 23, 2024.

GKIDS licensed the film for screening in North America starting January 24, 2025. It describes the main synopsis as:

Totsuko is a high school student with the ability to see the ‘colors’ of others. Colors of bliss, excitement, and serenity, plus a color she treasures as her favorite. Kimi, a classmate at her school, gives off the most beautiful color of all. Although she doesn’t play an instrument, Totsuko forms a band with Kimi and Rui, a quiet music enthusiast they meet at a used bookstore in a far corner of town. As they practice at an old church on a remote island, music brings them together, forming friendships and stirring affections. Will they discover their true ‘colors’?
