Watch the first German trailer for the new film from Studio Ghibli: “The Boy and the Heron” here!

Studio Ghibli’s latest anime film “The Boy and the Heron” will soon be released regularly in other German-speaking cinemas. The film was officially released in German-speaking Switzerland yesterday. While there was only a single promotional poster in Japan before the theatrical release, global audiences are also presented with trailers before the film’s release. You can watch a German-subtitled trailer on the website of the Swiss distributor Frenetic (click here OmdU-Trailer).

The film officially opens in Austria and Germany on 4 January 2024, including German dubbing. Now there is one for “The Boy and the Heron”. German trailer which you can find here. The semi-autobiographical film by director Hayao Miyazaki will celebrate its German premiere (original with German subtitles) in Berlin on December 2, 2023. There are tickets for it here to find. A boy longing for his mother ventures into a mysterious world shared by the living and the dead. There death finds an end and life finds a new beginning. THE BOY AND THE HERON is a semi-autobiographical fantasy about life, death and creation and, not least, a tribute to friendship, from master director Hayao Miyazaki.

After his mother dies in an air raid during World War II, eleven-year-old Mahito has to leave Tokyo. He moves in with his father and his new wife in an old manor house on a huge estate. Isolated from the world, Mahito begins to explore the enchanted landscapes that surround his new home and encounters a mysterious gray heron who stubbornly stays by his side.
