#The biggest Jets’ chemistry mystery as season approaches

The biggest mystery about the 2020 Jets is how their rebuilt offensive line is going to perform. There are five new starters from last year’s opener against the Bills, including first-round pick Mekhi Becton at left tackle.

The unit has practiced together over the past month, but with no preseason games and no spring practices, this is a crash course in chemistry. Last season, the offensive line was a disaster, and it affected Sam Darnold’s effectiveness and Le’Veon Bell’s ability to find holes to run through. Jets general manager Joe Douglas prioritized the line this offseason and added a lot of new pieces.

Will the line be better or just different?

“There’s a lot of plays to be had in the season, and no one’s saying that this is The Hogs, or anything crazy, but this is a group that you see getting better every day,” Douglas said earlier this week about the offensive line.

The first test will be Sunday against a tough Bills front. That will be followed by the 49ers, who have one of the deepest defensive lines in the NFL.

We will find out quickly whether this group has massively improved. The Jets’ season may depend upon it.
