#Manifest: Netflix in Talks to Save Canceled NBC Drama

Manifest could take flight for a fourth season at Netflix.

The missing plane drama was canceled by NBC after three seasons earlier this month, but there may be a happy ending in sight.

The series climbed to the #1 spot on Netflix after the first two seasons were made available to stream, and according to Deadline, talks to save the series are underway.

Passenger's Calling - Manifest

Warner Bros. TV and the streamer are evaluating the possibility of a pickup.

As always, these deals are notoriously difficult, so there’s no guarantee Netflix will be picking the show up, but it’s a glimmer of hope for fans.

A few years ago, Netflix picked up a fourth season of Lucifer after FOX canceled it, and the series is set to wrap for good with its sixth season in the coming months.

Nasty Look - Manifest Season 2 Episode 3

The NBC cancellation was somewhat surprising.

Manifest Season 3 ultimately averaged 3.2 million viewers and a 0.5 rating in the all-important adults 18-49 demo.

The series dipped 29 percent in the demo this season, but when you compare it to the erosion of other shows on NBC, a drop was expected.

Among 14 dramas on NBC, Manifest ranked No.7 in the demo, meaning that a renewal was deemed a given.

Dumbfounded!! - Manifest Season 2 Episode 3

It was also a strong performer in delayed viewing, but NBC clearly thought the show was not worthy of a pickup.

Manifest’s cancellation comes around halfway through a planned six-season arc, so fans will not be impressed with the decision.

“I’m devastated by NBC’s decision to cancel us,” showrunner Jeff Rake shared on Twitter after the announcement broke.

“That we’ve been shut down in the middle is a gut punch to say the least. Hoping to find a new home. You the fans deserve an ending to your story.”

Dream Team - Manifest Season 2 Episode 4

“Thanks for the love shown to me, cast, and crew,” his statement concluded.

It would be nice for fans to get some closure, but depending on how the series actually performs in raw numbers on Netflix, it could be a likely home.

Manifest was one of multiple NBC dramas left in limbo beyond the traditional upfronts presentation in May, but it was the highest-rated.

NBC also canceled Debris and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, while the future remains in question for Good Girls.

Looking for Clues - Manifest Season 2 Episode 4

Good Girls has a streaming deal with Netflix that should keep it alive for at least one more season.

Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J. R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, Matt Long, and Holly Taylor star on Manifest.

What are your thoughts on the decision? Do you think Manifest should be saved?
