#’The Bachelorette’ Week 10 recap: Tayshia breaks some hearts

#’The Bachelorette’ Week 10 recap: Tayshia breaks some hearts

Happy Monday, Bachelor Nation.

Back on the show’s usual night, Tayshia was nothing but decisive.

At the start of the episode, eight guys were in Tayshia’s orbit. By the end, only four remained. Those few will head into the famous hometown episode and introduce Tayshia to their families on Tuesday night.

Meeting her guys’ families loomed heavily on the Bachelorette, who couldn’t handle even the thought of meeting some suitors’ families if she wasn’t sure she could see her with them at the end of the show. That made for some tough, swift goodbyes.

After an hour of heartbreak, it was time for “The Men Tell All.” As expected, it was dumb and juicy and chaotic.

Here’s what went down on episode 10.

Welcome back Chris!

Daddy Harrison is back at the La Quinta after taking a short break from hosting to bring his son to college. JoJo Fletcher briefly took over in his absence. Tayshia updated him on the drama that he missed: She sent home a bunch of dudes, but one (Bennett) came back and claimed that he loved her. She still hasn’t decided what to do about that.

The one-on-one date

Blake, who is somehow still there, finally received a solo date card. A crystal healer read his and Tayshia’s chakras to make sure they were open for love. But it wasn’t enough magic to save Blake: Tayshia felt that their relationship was forced, and it was too late to make something happen with Hometowns looming. Bye-bye to Blake.

The sit down

Tayshia, on a roll, entered the guy’s villa while trying not to cry. “Guys I’m really trying, this is really hard,” she said through tears. She explained why she sent Blake home, and how hard it was for her. “I don’t want to hurt anyone,” she promised. And then she asked Riley to step outside with her.

Like Blake, her relationship with Riley just wasn’t far enough along for her to want him to go through the trouble of introducing her to his family. Unlike Blake, Riley really fought Tayshia. “Why would you keep me around this long?” he asked her. Their spark just started too late for her to feel 100% comfortable taking that step with him.

The cocktail party

It was a party of five. Ben had a rose from his emotional date last week. Only three others would make it into the next week.

And then Bennett walked in wearing a purple plaid suit. Worried that he had come off as a “Harvard D-bag,” Bennett had “unfinished business” to attend to at the resort, like telling Tayshia he was in love with her, he claimed. So he’s back and vying for roses. The guys didn’t give him the warmest welcome.

Chris Harrison came to tell the group that Tayshia knows exactly what she wants to do, and would be canceling the party.

The rose ceremony

Zac C., Ivan and Brendan were given roses, sending Bennett and Noah home. Bennett going home after coming back was like the end of “Legally Blonde,” when Warner graduated from Harvard without honors, without a girlfriend and no job offers. He’s going to make an excellent lifestyle influencer.

And then there were four.

The men tell all

As I’ve said before, Chris Harrison wants what Andy Cohen has. A collection of the most memorable guys sat six-feet apart to rag on each other and fight for Instagram followers. Most of the revelations achieved weren’t super important. But for the sake of the recap, here are the biggest takeaways.

Ed maintained that Chasen wasn’t authentic in his relationships, but got flack from Demar for starting fights.

Noah did read the emotional intelligence book Bennett gave him. Noah still thought Bennett was condescending, though, and Bennett still believed Noah sucked. Kenny went after Noah, saying he was there solely to start drama.

Blake revealed that he waxed Kenny’s happy trail on the show.

Yosef — remember him? — has no regrets about how he treated Clare. All the guys, including Chris Harrison, felt he was in the wrong. Blake, Demar and Kenny, who were on the strip dodgeball date that started all the drama, told Yosef they aren’t comfortable with his defense of them. Chris even gave him the words, but Yosef refused to apologize for yelling at Clare.

Tayshia came out and defended why she sent Bennett, Blake and Riley home. Though Riley was shocked with grief when Tayshia broke up with him, he had nothing but respect for her and her journey. Tayshia wanted him to know that Riley opening up to her was not the reason she sent him home, which “meant the world” to him. “You’re going to make an amazing husband and an amazing dad,” she told her ex.

On Tuesday, promos show romantic Hometowns. The four suitors’ families come to the La Quinta for some bonding. Brendan is nervous about proposing. Ben isn’t sure if he’s in love. Zac’s dad gives Tayshia a hard time.

Prediction

Tayshia has solid connections with each of her four finalists. I love them all. But I think someone can’t handle the pressure, and let’s themselves go.
