The Alchemist Admits He Missed A Chance To Work On Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter VI'

The Alchemist has admitted that he missed his chance to work with Lil Wayne on Tha Carter VI.
Speaking to HipHopDX on the red carpet for the 2025 BET Awards, the legendary producer confessed Weezy sought his beats but a collaboration didn’t come off.
Alchemist said: “Mack Maine is a good friend of mine and we talk regularly. I probably missed the boat because I sent something for this record but I was just overthinking it.”
He continued: “That’s something I would love to do. Wayne is like up in the quasars as far as MC’s so you never know. I was probably thinking too hard but next time I won’t.”
Wayne finally dropped Tha Carter VI last Friday (June 6) to a middling critical and commercial reception.

According to reports, Tha Carter VI brought in 14.2 million first day streams on Spotify.
In comparison, Tha Carter V, released in 2018, debuted to 66 million streams.
It remains to be seen if Wayne will sell enough units to move Morgan Wallen off the top of the Billboard 200.
If it fails to do so, it will be the first solo Wayne project since 2015 not to debut at the top of the charts.
Tha Carter VI was perhaps most notable for its eclectic features which includes U2 lead singer, Bono.
The two link up on the anthemic “The Days” which was previously debuted during a promo for the NBA Finals.
On the track, Wayne references his status as an elder statesman in Hip Hop, rapping: “I ain’t getting younger, but I’m getting better / No time to waste that’s another man’s treasure / They say every dog has hit day.”
While Bono, who has previously worked with Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West, sings: “The time of our lives / The time of our youth / We bow down to beauty and truth / These are the days.”
