“#The 3 hottest TV shows right now are based on these books”
If you’re taking time off during the holidays and are planning to do some serious binge-watching, consider these latest book-to-TV adaptations.
“The Undoing”
Based on: “You Should Have Known” by Jean Hanff Korelitz
Available on: all 6 episodes on HBO
Premieres: Already available
Summary: A wealthy New York therapist named Grace (played by Nicole Kidman) finds her world in complete upheaval when a parent at her son’s private school is found murdered. It’s grist for the mommy gossip mill until Grace’s husband, a respected pediatric oncologist (Hugh Grant), finds himself the main suspect. The author of “Admission” and “The Devil and Webster,” among many others, Korelitz has a knack for writing wry novels that skewer Manhattan privilege.
“The Stand”
Based on: “The Stand” by Stephen King
Available on: premieres Dec. 17 on CBS All-Access
Summary: Just in case you hadn’t experienced enough pandemic in 2020, this TV adaptation of the 1978 novel by the granddaddy of horror shows us a world in which a pandemic has killed 99 percent of the world population. In this awful new world, the survivors must choose sides between good and evil — or be chosen. The fate of the world rests on the shoulders of 108-year-old Mother Abagail (Whoopi Goldberg).
“The Flight Attendant”
Based on: “The Flight Attendant” by Chris Bohjalian
Available on: premiered Nov. 26 on HBO Max
Summary: Flight attendant Cassie Bowden (Kaley Cuoco) wakes up hungover one morning on a layover in Thailand. She’s in a strange hotel, in a room she doesn’t recognize, with no memory of the previous night — and next to her in the bed is a dead man.
