A trailer for the first OVA in the Moriarty the Patriot anime series has been released, showcasing many of the characters from the show. It will be part of a two-episode OVA series with an original story from the main manga. The OVAs will be released in Japan on Blu-ray and DVD sets on April 27, 2022. 

The first OVA is set to be pre-screened at a special event in Japan on March 5, 2022. The event will feature cast members Souma Saitou, Takuya Satou, Chiaki Kobayashi, Makoto Furukawa, and Yuki Ono. Priority tickets for guests were included with the anime’s eighth Blu-ray/DVD volume, which went on sale on October 27, 2021.

Moriarty the Patriot is based on the manga series of the same name written by Ryousuke Takeuchi and illustrated by Hikaru Miyoshi. It was first serialized in Shueisha’s Jump Square magazine on August 4, 2016 and has published 16 tankoubon volumes in total so far. 

The first anime cour premiered in October 2020, while the second cour premiered in April 2021. Production I.G. handled animation production of both cours.

In the late 19th century, the British Empire nobility reigns while its working class suffers at their hands. Sympathetic to their plight, William James Moriarty wants to topple it all. Frustrated by the systemic inequity, Moriarty strategizes to fix the entire nation. Not even consulting detective Sherlock Holmes can stand in his way. It’s time for crime to revolutionize the world!
