#That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3 Reveals Latest PV Trailer, Debuts Episode 48.5 on March 30

A new PV trailer has been revealed for the upcoming third season of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, which will premiere in Japan on April 5, 2024. Season three will air for two consecutive cours. 

It was also announced that the third season will premiere with episode 48.5 “Digression: Diablo Diary” on March 30, 2024, before the debut of season three’s first episode. 

Atsushi Nakayama is directing the anime’s third season, with Ryouma Ebata as character designer, Toshizo Nemoto (Backflip!!) as series screenwriter, Takahiro Kishida as monster designer, Ayumi Sato as art director, Maki Saito as color designer, and Hiroshi Sato as photography director. Eight Bit is handling the animation production for the series. 

The first two seasons of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime premiered in 2018 and 2019, with the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bond film following in 2022. An OVA based on the short story that inspired the film was released in November 2023. A spin-off titled The Slime Diaries premiered in 2021.

The isekai adventure anime series is based on Taiki Kawakami‘s manga adaptation of the original light novels from MICRO MAGAZINE, written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. The manga began serialization in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius on March 26, 2015 and has released 25 tankoubon volumes as of January 2024. Kodansha USA releases the manga adaptation in English for North America, along with several spin-off manga as well. 

The light novel series was first released on May 30, 2014 and is based on Fuse’s Shosetsuka ni Narou web novel, which ran from February 20, 2013 to January 1, 2016. Twenty-one volumes have been published as of October 2023, along with two extra side story collections. Yen Press releases the light novels in English for North America. 

Crunchyroll is streaming That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime outside of Japan, describing season one as:

Corporate worker Mikami Satoru is stabbed by a random killer, and is reborn to an alternate world. But he turns out to be reborn a slime! Thrown into this new world with the name Rimuru, he begins his quest to create a world that’s welcoming to all races.
