#Tesla fires worker who ‘maliciously sabotaged’ Fremont factory

Tesla reportedly fired a worker from its Fremont factory who the company said had “maliciously sabotaged” part of the plant.

The electric automaker’s general counsel Al Prescott sent an email to employees on Monday informing them of the alleged incident at Tesla’s main North American plant, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday.

“Two weeks ago, our IT and InfoSec teams determined than [sic] an employee had maliciously sabotaged a part of the Factory,” Prescott email reads, according to the report. “Their quick actions prevented further damage and production was running smoothly again a few hours later.”

Tesla didn’t give further details about the alleged sabotage and damage, but said the worker allegedly attempted to “cover up his tracks,” the report said, as well as blame a colleague for the damage and destroy a company computer.

“Ultimately, after being shown the irrefutable evidence, the employee confessed,” Prescott said. “As a result, we terminated employment.”

Tesla did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.

The alleged sabotage came less than a month after Tesla won its case against whistleblower Martin Tripp who was fired for hacking and transferring company data to a news publication.

The ruling put an end to a messy saga that saw CEO Elon Musk reportedly wage a ruthless campaign against Tripp that included orchestrating a stunt to portray him as a lunatic who threatened to shoot up the Gigafactory. Police quickly determined that Tripp wasn’t a threat.
