#Terminator Anime Series Produced by Netflix and Production I.G

Netflix, SkyDance, and Production I.G announced that they will produce an anime series based on the Terminator universe. The partnership with Production I.G began in 2018 with Netflix’s Production Line Deal.

Production I.G will be in charge of the animation production and previously worked on Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 and B: The Beginning, which are also on Netflix. 

Mattson Tomlin will be the showrunner and executive producer. He previously wrote the script for Project Power on Netflix and co-wrote The Batman. 

In response to the announcement, John Derderian, Netflix, Vice President of Japan & Anime commented, “Terminator is one of the most iconic sci-fi stories ever created–and has only grown more relevant to our world over time. The new animated series will explore this universe in a way that has never been done before. We can’t wait for fans to experience this amazing new chapter in the epic battle between machines and humans.”

Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, President and CEO of Production I.G also commented, “I asked my long-time friend and colleague Mamoru Oshii what he thought about the idea of turning Terminator into an animated series. His response was “Ishikawa, are you out of your mind?” At that instant, I was confident we should get onboard.
