#Tanisha Harper Takes Over Jordan Ashford Role in ABC Soap

Tanisha Harper, an actress who has recently appeared in series such as Dollface and Hacks, has joined ABC‘s long-running daytime soap-opera General Hospital.

According to Deadline, Harper will star in a series regular role as Port Charles police commissioner Jordan Ashford, replacing Briana Nicole Henry, who exited the series last year. Harper marks the third actress to play the Jordan Ashford role, having been initially portrayed by Vinessa Antoine from March 14, 2014 to September 7, 2018.

Last year, Henry announced that it was time “to move on” from the series after playing Ashford from September 13, 2018 to September 13, 2021. Her character’s final appearance saw her in a medical clinic in Albany, New York, after suffering a near-death experience.

Harper was born in Tokyo and worked as a model for many years; she competed on the sixth season of Project Runway in 2008, finishing in second place. One of her first acting roles was the American telenovela Desire on MyNetworkTV; from there, she would go on to appear in the comedy feature Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Her recent credits include guest spots on Hulu’s Dollface, HBO Max’s Hacks, and Netflix’s Dear White People.

General Hospital, created by husband-and-wife soap writers Frank and Doris Hursley, premiered on ABC on April 1, 1963. It is the longest-running American soap opera in production — and the second overall behind Guiding Light. The series also holds the record for most Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series, having picked up the win 14 times throughout its run.

Harper is set to make her General Hospital debut in March.
