#‘Take it from me’: Hillary Clinton urges voters to show up for Biden at 2020 DNC

Hillary Clinton urged voters to show up in force to support Joe Biden in remarks Wednesday at the Democratic National Committee — with the losing 2016 party nominee saying they should “take it from me.”

“For four years, people have said to me, ‘I didn’t realize how dangerous he [Trump] was.’ ‘I wish I could go back and do it over.’ Or worse, ‘I should have voted,’ ” Clinton said. “Well, this can’t be another ‘woulda coulda shoulda’ election.”

Despite being strongly favored and indeed capturing the popular vote, Clinton lost the election four years ago to Trump, who eked out wins in crucial swing states.

“I wish Donald Trump knew how to be a president, because America needs a president right now,” she said. “We need leaders equal to this moment of sacrifice and service.”

But beyond reasons not to vote for Trump, Clinton offered insight on why to pull the lever for Biden and his running mate, California Sen. Kamala Harris, who she called “relentless in the pursuit of justice and equity.

“This is the team to pull our nation back from the brink,” said Clinton in the pre-taped segment.

“Let’s vote for the jobs that Joe’s plan will create,” she said. “Vote for emergency relief that lifts small businesses and saves hardworking people from foreclosures and evictions.

“And don’t forget, Joe and Kamala can win by three million votes and still lose. Take it from me. So we need numbers overwhelming, so Trump can’t sneak or steal his way to victory.”

Clinton backed Biden to accomplish what she could not in 2016: Triumph over Trump.

Despite capturing the popular vote, Clinton came up short in the tightly-contested election after Trump eked out wins in high-value electoral college states many predicted would go blue.

Since, Clinton has regularly sniped from the sidelines about what could have been, while Trump gloated and continued to chide her over scandals including her emails on the 2012 Benghazi attack.

Into late 2019, she hinted that she might enter the Democratic field for another crack at Trump, teasing, “Never say never” — the same phrase she used as recently as February about the possibility of catching on as someone’s vice presidential running mate.

Clinton’s husband, former two-term president Bill Clinton, addressed the DNC on Tuesday night, saying of Trump, “If you want a president who defines the job as spending hours a day watching TV and zapping people on social media, he’s your man.”
